Poliʻahu, the revered goddess of Mauna Kea, the White Mountain, is celebrated in Hawaiian tradition as a symbol of snow, water, and the quiet strength of nature. Depicted in the style of a traditional Tibetan thangka, she sits upon a pedestal of kalo (taro), honoring Hawaiʻi's most sacred food source. Beside her is her sister Lilinoe, the Goddess of the Mist.
Surrounded by the beauty of Lake Waiau, native silversword plants, and graceful nēnē geese, Poliʻahu is accompanied by the male and female Kamapuaʻa (pig deities), who offer kukui, sweet potatoes, and the fruits of the land. Together, these elements celebrate the abundance, spirituality, and deep cultural traditions of Hawaiʻi, where hula is offered as a sacred expression of song and dance.
